The flagship Company of the Group – THE COMMERCIAL MOTORS LTD., was started in the pre-independence era of 1946 with the primary objective of dealership in imported automobile products when sophisticated automobiles were being imported into the Country at that time.
In 1961, M/s. Bajaj Auto Ltd., & M/s. Maharashtra Scooters Ltd., - India's largest two and three wheeler manufacturer awarded the dealership of its products to CML. This dealership was given up by the company owing to low margins and a conscious decision by the HCG Group to focus on premium products
